Exovera’s recent report, “Analysis of the PRC’s Ministry of National Defense Websites,” provides an in-depth examination of the MND’s online presence, comparing its Chinese and English-language websites. Launched in 2009 and fully operational since 2011, these websites serve as platforms to disseminate military and defense-related information. The report highlights significant organizational and content differences between the two versions. The English website offers limited and outdated content, often omitting older articles and critical updates, while the Chinese version provides more comprehensive and regularly updated information, including detailed records dating back to 2018.

Key findings include disparities in the organization of tabs, significant variations in content overlap, and the English site’s lack of archival access for users. The Chinese site, by contrast, features a robust archive and extensive articles on the Central Military Commission, Theater Commands, and PLA services. This analysis underscores the Chinese government’s tailored approach to domestic and international audiences, revealing critical insights into how the MND seeks to control narratives and promote its military image globally.
