Sinopharm Jiangsu Co., Ltd.’s Access to Chemical Precursors and Connections to Mexico

Exovera’s report, Sinopharm Jiangsu Co., Ltd.’s Access to Chemical Precursors and Connections to Mexico, profiles a Chinese chemical company with potential links to the transnational drug trade. Originally established by Chinese state actors and now part of the Cayman Islands–registered GHW International group, Sinopharm Jiangsu develops pharmaceutical intermediates, active pharmaceutical ingredients, iodine derivatives, and food additives, while advertising precursor chemicals such as methylamine and dimethylamine that can be used to manufacture methamphetamine, MDMA, and DMT. The company operates an e-commerce platform for chemical sales and has a sister company in Guadalajara, Jalisco—home to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.

Shipping records show Sinopharm Jiangsu made at least 14 shipments between September 2023 and March 2025 to Mexican companies, including logistics firm Leschaco Mexicana and animal nutrition wholesaler Nutrezoo. While the shipments contained compounds such as choline chloride and betaine, the recipients’ locations—Ciudad Obregón in Sonora and Guadalajara in Jalisco—sit along key trafficking corridors dominated by Mexican cartels. Although no direct link to illicit drug production was found, the company’s access to drug precursors, its corporate footprint in cartel territory, and its ongoing shipments to Mexican partners underscore the need for closer monitoring of its activities.
