Jeff “JZ” Zimmerman is the Chief Operating Officer for Exovera, bringing 30 years of operational leadership in the military as a Naval flight officer and four-time commanding officer together with over 25 years running large-scale technical programs at Booz Allen Hamilton across the Intelligence Community, DoD and federal civil markets. As the COO, Jeff has led transformative standup capability acceleration for the company.
Before joining Exovera, Zimmerman spent more than 20 years with Booz Allen Hamilton, helping to stand up and grow its Strategic Innovation Group (its Business Development Center of Excellence, chartered to drive growth across the company’s $1B Intelligence Community services portfolio and the Strategic Innovation Group, which served as the firm’s technology and capability development design lab and incubator).
Jeff is a leader on the frontlines, having served multiple combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan while amassing more than 800 combat flight hours in the EA-6B Prowler flying missions in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo. Captain Zimmerman commanded Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 209 (VAQ-209) during a first-ever deployment to Bagram Airfield for Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). Subsequent international command tours include NATO Allied Command for Transformation (ACT), Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR) Naval Reserve Unit, and the Commander 6th FLT-EUCOM-AFRICOM Reserve unit in Naples, Italy.
Jeff holds a B.S.E. in electrical and biomedical engineering from Duke University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Webster University.
